Gefðu notaðar enskar bækur í jólagjöf

Stundum er auðvelt að verða öðrum að liði. Ef þú átt góða bók á ensku sem þú tímir að gefa og pening fyrir póstburðargjaldi getur þú orðið að liði. Andrei býr í Baia Mare í Rúmeníu. Samtökin sem hann er sjálfboðaliði hjá heita "Association for Development through Education, Information and Support, skammstafað D.E.I.S. (heimasíða: www.deis.ro). Þessi samtök eru að koma upp bókasafni í þorpinu með bókum á ensku og á Andrei frumkvæðið því honum þykir miður hve takmarkaður aðgangur þeirra sem í þorpinu búa er að góðu lesefni.

En hvernig endar svona fyrirspurn á Íslandi? Svarið er einfalt. Andrei var sjálfboðaliði innan Evrópu Unga Fólksins og starfaði hjá samtökum í Innsbruck í Austurríki, meðal annars með Katrin Lüth sem er þjálfari á vettvangi Evrópu Unga Fólksins rétt eins og Pétur Björgvin djákni í Glerárkirkju. Og Katrin áframsendi eftirfarandi bréf frá Andrei á Pétur og það er hér með birt í þeirri von að fólk hér á Íslandi sendi honum bækur og áframsendi bréfið hans:

My name is Andrei Balan and I am a volunteer in a non-governmental association called The Association for Development through Education, Information and Support - D.E.I.S (www.deis.ro) which focuses on supporting youngsters and implementing projects with and for them.
One of my biggest passions is reading. I live in a small city from Romania, Baia Mare, where literature is quite rare among youngsters and I want to change that. I believe in the power of reading and how books can change a person’s life and I also believe that youngsters overwhelmed by internet and other time-killing activities need to discover other things like worlds, characters and stories and learn the good things from them. From improving their own vocabulary to expanding the border of their imagination books can improve many skills which are needed in everyday`s life obstacles.
What I want to do is to create a space designed for reading and there, organize different activities like workshops and seminaries on different topics such as writing, sexual education, breaking stereotypes, drug awareness, social inclusion and so on. I will try my best to find the location for this idea to commence but the second thing needed for my “backdoor of literature” are the books. This necessitate is quite difficult to acquire since the financial situation is not pink at all, here.
I kindly ask people all around the world to contribute in every way they can with books of all sorts and send them to our association so we can build this small bibliotheca and encourage reading.
